Five Must Have Senior Girl Poses

Every session is different but I’ve found these 5 poses are loved by my clients and I do some variation of them at almost every session.  Let’s get right to it!

Looking Back

This is the one that gets the moms crying almost every time!  Sorry Moms!  There’s something about the storytelling and symbolism of these shots.

Their little girl is leaving but she’s still looking back for support.  They are walking away from one chapter and toward another.  This is almost always an image that gets selected for our Graduation announcements too!

Think about your wardrobe selection if this is a pose that you want to incorporate into your session for maximum impact.  Lace details, buttons, wrap shirts…these all make this image more impactful.

While we can do these poses in our studio, they are especially beautiful when done outside in a large field of flowers or decorative grass.

Eyelashes

This image is tougher than it may seem to capture.  It’s one of the poses that differentiates us from other photographers (and from all of your selfies and best friend shots).  This image is all about capturing the emotion of a moment.  A little bit of hair movement and the perfect angle to highlight the eyes without magnifying the nose!  No one wants that!!!

Laying Down

Senior year is one of the last chances to capture quirky, fun poses like this.  Teenagers can pull off the whimsy and fun of laying in the grass.

It’s a great way to get our clients to relax and get a genuine smile.  We also play up the beautiful hair that many of our seniors have!

This pose can be done with memorabilia in our studio or outside in a great field.

Side Hug

This is the perfect way to capture an intimate, shy moment with our seniors.  The pose is flattering to almost everyone and is usually one of the first poses we start with because it’s a great way for our clients to get comfortable.  Once they nail this pose and we show them how amazing they look-we can create virtually anything because they totally trust us.  This is also a great image to feature on a wall canvas or metal print because it really focuses on the face and expression of your senior.

The Wall

Everyone can lean!  This is a another great starting pose because everyone feels more relaxed when they have something to lean on.  (Why am I now humming Lean on Me?  We all need somebody to le-ean on.  Sorry!)  This is also a great pose because you really focus on your seniors face and beautiful eyes.  We try to get our seniors a little further into the frame so you just follow that wall right up to their face.  It’s a great urban feel photo.
