Prom Trends 2020

What’s new for Prom 2020

Spring is in the air.  They just took down the ‘Road may drift’ snow sign from the road at the new house and that must mean the warmer weather is on the way.  Which means that prom is right around the corner.  Here’s a quick read to get you ‘in the know’ about all of the new and ‘new again’ styles that everyone will be after this Prom season.

Must Have Prom Styles

  1. The Jumpsuit:  This is, without a doubt, my favorite trend this year!  These styles are powerful and unique and I hope many of you decide to rock this style on your big night.  Metallics, one shoulder, and sparkle help set off this head turning style for Prom 2020.  Match your hair to this sultry style with a slicked back up-do or high pony with statement earrings.
  2. The Ballgown:  We go from a trend setting new style to a classic that is being made new again-the ballgown.  The ballgown is a staple that is flattering to all body shapes.  There’s a reason most Disney princesses opt for this glamorous silhouette!  Be a princess on prom and go with a ballgown.  Muted, nude shades give this simple style an updated feel.  Loose curls and a statement necklace will lock in this style for your fairytale prom.
  3. Metallics:  I think we first called this out 3 or 4 years ago and this trend isn’t going anywhere in 2020.  I personally love the Rose Gold choice here but classic 24K Gold and Silver are eye catching too.  We recommend selecting a simple style if you’re going to go with this trend.  The metallic fabrics are statement enough, you don’t need to go crazy with elaborate adornments or cut outs.  We recommend a statement lip color with this style choice and simple, subtle hair.
  4. Animal prints (especially with sequins!):  Leopard, cheetah, zebra.  They all have a place this prom season.  We love this style combined with a shorter silhouette to really stand out and avoid animal over kill.  We’re seeing many of the traditional animal prints being done in non traditional colors so go for that pink or purple look alike.  Much like the metallic trend, we recommend simple hair and jewelry choices.
  5. Holographic:  Iridescent is everywhere.  We’re seeing iridescent balayage hair (which we totally want BTW!) so why not transfer this trend over to prom.  We love this look combined with the ballgown style.  Oooh, and pockets!  Yes!!!  We’d love a loose curl that is pulled over to one side and earrings that coordinate with the varying colors of the gown.

That’s our quick take on what you’ll be seeing this prom season.  Which style are you eyeing for your perfect prom look?
